በጄኔቫ ዓለም አቀፉ የቴሌኮሙኒኬሽን ተቋም ( International Telecommunication Union – ITU ) በከፍተኛ ኃላፊነት ለረዥም ዘመናት ያገለገሉትና ሀገር ወዳዱ ኢንጂነር ተረፈ ራስ ወርቅ ከዚህ ዓለም በሞት ተለይተዋል ፡፡ ኢንጂነር ተረፈ ራስ ወርቅ እንደሚታወሰው “የአንኮበሩ ሰው በጄኔቫ” የተሰኘውና በአማርኛና በእንግሊዝኛ የተዘጋጀውና የግል ታሪካቸውን የያዘ መፅሃፍ በደብረ ብርሃን ዩኒቨርሲቲ አስመርቀው ለትውስታ ትተውልንም አልፈዋል::
Tribute to Engineer Terrefe Ras-Work

Terrefe Ras-Work was born on March 11, 1936 in Ankober, Shoa, Ethiopia. Son of Wolde Maskal and Askale Mariam (G.Giogis) Ras-W. arrived in Switzerland 1970. He was educated in the University College, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 1955-1958, Certificate Bachelor of Surgery Engineering, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, United States of America, 1958-1960, BEE. University of Southern California, United States of America, 1989, Advanced Management Diploma.
His career included Maintenance engineer, Ethiopian Telecom Authority, Addis Ababa, 1960-1964; transmission bureau chief, Ethiopian Telecom Authority, Addis Ababa, 1964-1968; operations bureau chief, Ethiopian Telecom Authority, Addis Ababa, 1968-1970; project officer, International Telecom Union, Geneva, 1970-1973; head, Africa division technical cooperation, International Telecom Union, Geneva, 1975-1985; special policy advisor to secretary general, International Telecom Union, Geneva, 1985-1992; director external affairs, International Telecom Union, Geneva, since 1992. In addition to African countries, he pushed the development of IT and Telecom in India and China at a time when their capabilities were still underestimated. He fluently spoke Amharic, English and French.
Engineer Terrefe Ras-Work is known for his pioneering works in the field of Telecommunications in Ethiopia, his career at the International Telecommunication Union, his innovative teaching method of the Geez Alphabet (ሀሁ በቀላሉ), his instrumental leading role in founding the Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Switzerland as well his Eco-tourism enterprise in Ethiopia: the Ankober Palace Lodge.
He was happily married for 60 years with Woizero Berhane Ras-Work. He is survived by his three children and eight grandchildren.
